Homes That Heal, Podcast

Buying or selling a home? It’s not just about square footage or the perfect kitchen backsplash. Nope, intuitive home buying is a full-body experience that stirs up your nerves, emotions, and yes, your inner knowing. The truth is, your brain’s logic spreadsheets won’t always cut it. Sometimes, you’ve got to trust your gut (literally) and clear the energy around you before making one of life’s biggest decisions.

In a recent conversation with real estate agent and mindset coach Chernice Dieudonne, we dug deep into this dance of intuition and energy — how to know when a house is really right for you, and how to let go of what’s weighing you down so your mind and space can breathe.

Here’s what you can use next time you’re navigating the emotional rollercoaster of buying, selling, or simply living in your space.

When Your Gut Says “No” — Intuitive Home Buying in Action

You’ve probably been there: walking through a house, ticking all the boxes, and then bam, your stomach twists, your legs feel weak, or your shoulders tense up. That’s your nervous system waving a big red flag.

Chernice told me a story about a deal she was involved in that literally made her legs give out. Her body just said, “Nope, not happening.” It wasn’t about price or location—it was a deep, undeniable knowing that the situation wasn’t right.

That feeling? It’s your intuition, your body’s ancient way of protecting you. Buying or selling a home triggers so many emotions and energy shifts that your nervous system is on high alert. If your gut (and maybe your knees) start to rebel, it’s time to listen.

Forget the logic spreadsheets for a minute and tune into your physical and emotional responses. Does the space feel safe? Supportive? Aligned with your life’s rhythm? If not, don’t ignore those sensations—they matter.

“Your intuition is your best real estate agent — sometimes more reliable than the one showing you houses.”
— Chernice Dieudonne

Clearing Your Space, Clearing Your Mind

Now, let’s talk about the other side of the coin: sometimes the hesitation isn’t just about the house. It’s about you and the energy you’re carrying in and around your home.

Chernice shared a little gem about how she used to dread checking her mail because it felt like “emotional baggage” piling up—bills, junk, reminders of what needed to be done. Then she shifted her mindset: mail became “just mail.” That small mental switch helped her clear space, both physically and energetically.

This got me thinking: our homes hold our stuff, sure. But they also hold our emotions, memories, stress, and sometimes even the chaos we don’t want to face.

Before you pack those boxes or decide on a new place, take a moment to clear the energy where you are now. Energy clearing is a crucial part of intuitive home buying, if your space feels blocked, your decision-making probably will too. Here are a few simple ways to start:

  • Declutter — it’s not just about aesthetics. Letting go of stuff you don’t need frees up mental and emotional space.
  • Bless your space — say out loud something like, “Thank you for shelter and memories, I release you with love.”
  • Mindful letting go — notice the feelings that come up when you touch or see certain things, and honor them. Sometimes that’s where the real work is.

These small rituals create a holding space for your nervous system and intuition to come forward, making those gut feelings easier to hear.

Bringing It Together — Energy Clearing and Intuition for Buying or Selling a Home

So how do you use all this intuition and energy clearing in the messy, complicated process of buying or selling?

First, remember: it’s not just a transaction. It’s a transition for your whole self.

When you’re house hunting, don’t just look with your eyes—tune into your body. Pay attention to what your gut, heart, and even your legs are telling you. When it’s time to sell or leave, practice clearing rituals to help you let go of what’s holding you back emotionally or energetically. Make space for yourself by decluttering both your physical environment and your emotional baggage. Give yourself permission to not force something just because it “makes sense.” Sometimes the right choice feels messy or uncertain at first, but it’ll feel right deep down.

Chernice’s coaching is all about holding space for others, but she emphasizes that to do that well, your own space has to be clear. That’s the secret sauce: when your inner space and outer space are both aligned, decisions come easier, your stress lightens, and your home truly becomes a healing sanctuary.

“There’s a huge distinction between holding on to people’s baggage and being a space holder. My space needs to be clear enough for me to be able to hold for others.”
— Chernice Dieudonne

Your Home Is a Mirror of Your Inner World

Let’s get real: your home is way more than a roof over your head. It’s a reflection of your inner world. The fears, hopes, clarity, and confusion you carry show up in how you feel in your space.
When buying, selling, or settling into a new home, try this mantra:

“When intuition and energy align, the right home becomes clear—not just in my mind, but in my whole being.”

When you approach your move with intuitive home buying in mind, you’re not just chasing the perfect property, you’re aligning your home with who you are becoming. Because let’s face it: buying or selling a home is one of the biggest emotional journeys you’ll take. Trust your intuition. Clear the space. Your next home, and your peace, are waiting.
