Have you ever found yourself stuck on your health journey? Like no matter what you do, you can’t make progress or hit your health and wellness goals?
Achieving your health goals requires more than just a plan. It takes determination, commitment, and a strong mindset. Without them, it’s easy to give up when the going gets tough. But with them, you can overcome any obstacle and improve your wellness.
If you haven’t caught Part 1 of this episode yet, you’re missing out on understanding the pivotal point that started my journey toward health and wellness. That episode focused on the reason for change that caused a deep longing within me.
Now, in Part 2 and today’s blog, I delve deeper into how I turned my challenges into triumphs and regained my well-being. I emphasize the importance of recognizing the blessings that come from deep emotional pain and expressing my gratitude for the positive changes they brought into my life. The pivotal moment fueled my determination to shift my mindset and lifestyle in a significant way.
“When something or someone cuts so deep that it moves you into action, even though it may hurt, it is a blessing.”
So let me tell you how I did it…
My path to a healthier lifestyle wasn’t an overnight transformation. It was a series of intentional steps, each playing an important role in my journey towards health and wellness.
Here are the actions I took:
1| Incorporating Movement
I started by adding movement to my daily life. I jogged to the highway, setting telephone poles as benchmarks. At first, I felt embarrassed, worrying about my neighbors’ judgment. But I stayed focused on my goal.
2| Seeking Conventional Medical Advice
Concerned about my health status, I consulted a doctor who diagnosed me with thyroid issues and offered conventional treatment options. However, I was reluctant to rely on lifelong medication or undergo surgery, prompting me to explore alternative approaches.
3| Exploring Nutrition Response Testing (NRT)
With the support of my friend Tara, I found nutrition response testing and met Ashley Meyer, a practitioner who helped me identify imbalances in my body. She created a personalized detoxification plan that included dietary changes, supplements, and lifestyle adjustments to support my body’s natural healing processes. This experience introduced me to a holistic perspective on health, emphasizing the interconnectedness of physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
4| Adopting Infrared Sauna Therapy
Initially skeptical, I soon experienced the gentle and effective detoxifying effects of infrared sauna therapy.
Unlike traditional saunas, infrared saunas use gentle heat that penetrates deeper into the body. This provides a more comfortable and effective detoxification experience. I would describe it as a warm, vibrant hug from the sun. It helps me feel energized, detoxified, and emotionally balanced.
5| Connecting with Yoga and Mind-Body Practices
Yoga introduced me to the power of mind-body connection.
I was still walking and jogging every week but decided it was time to elevate my fitness routine. So I signed up for a yoga class. I remember this class vividly. That was the day I truly started a connection with my body. I could feel the energy flowing inside me. I could feel the strength I actually had. I completely underestimated myself going into that day, and I remember thinking how strong and invincible I felt when I left.
6| Attending a Longevity Conference
My journey took a transformative turn when I attended a longevity conference. This event exposed me to a wealth of knowledge and holistic approaches to health and wellness. I discovered bulletproof coffee and elixirs, which became must-haves in my routine. I also met a holistic dentist who tested the mercury amalgams in my mouth and found that they were releasing gasses at a high rate.
Bonus Tip: Entering Entrepreneurship and Wellness Consulting
My friendship with Ashley deepened, leading us to attend health conferences together.
During one of these trips, Ashley suggested that I consider a career in wellness consulting. Initially skeptical, I quickly enrolled at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition after realizing my job at Coke no longer felt fulfilling. I began daydreaming about creating a wellness center with saunas, detox programs, and healthy snacks. With my mind made up, I quit my job, dove into entrepreneurship, and opened Jenerate Wellness in 2014. The joy and fulfillment I found in helping clients reach their health and wellness goals and making a difference in their lives reaffirmed my decision to follow this path.
Conclusion
Reflecting on my journey, it’s clear that determination and mindset are powerful forces in achieving health and wellness goals.
From shedding pounds to taking on holistic practices like infrared sauna therapy and yoga, each step brought me closer to physical health and a clear mind.
Holistic health isn’t just about physical changes; it’s about reducing stress and finding peace within oneself. Whether you’re starting small with movement or diving into alternative therapies, remember: every step counts on your path to wellness. Cherish the journey, stay committed, and believe in your ability to transform.
