I’ve had the pleasure of working in the health/wellness/sauna industry for many years and over that time, a lot of infrared sauna companies have come and gone. One of the main reasons a company falls away is because their quality/craftsmanship doesn’t hold up and/or their marketing doesn’t align with the facts. This is true in many industries, but is pretty obvious and telling in the infrared world.
Many years ago, I was on a mission to find a sauna for heavy metal detoxing and discovered Clearlight® Saunas at a health conference in California. After just a short conversation and a few minutes inside the cabin, I knew I’d found a quality sauna. The radiant heat immediately penetrated my skin/muscle tissue and I could literally feel how deeply detoxifying the light energy was. I was loaded with metals at the time so I was not only on the hunt for an effective heating system, but one that was safe as well.
Here’s a breakdown on features, heaters, warranty, etc and WHY I aligned with Clearlight then for my own detox journey and why I continue to chose them above all others over the years….
1) Clearlight is the only company with proprietary hybrid carbon-ceramic heaters offering the best of both worlds of carbon and ceramic infrared heaters. They infuse their high quality carbon heaters with thousands of ceramic particulates to create a high performance infrared heater unrivaled in the sauna industry. All other companies use ceramic-only or carbon-only heaters, carbon being the most popular.
2) As a leader in innovation, Clearlight pioneered the industry and was the first company to remove the EMF (electro-magnetic fields) exposure in infrared saunas years ago. They were also the first sauna company to have 3rd party laboratory testing verifying low EMF levels. Clearlight’s CEO (and my friend), Dr. Raleigh Duncan, is a Certified Geo-Vital Consultant, making him an expert in EMF mitigation strategies. Health and safety is their #1 priority and there is a reason why so many elite health/wellness authorities trust them.
3) They’re the only infrared sauna company shielding ELF (extremely low electrical frequencies), an energy pollution that can radiate from electrical wiring.
4) They’re the first sauna company to do independent laboratory testing showing there are no VOC’s (volatile organic compounds) off gassing.
5) Sanctuary saunas are equipped with 2 vertical 500-watt Full Spectrum heaters emitting all three infrared energy wavelengths – near, mid and far infrared. A Full Spectrum heater can also be added to any Premier Saunas as an accessory.
6) Heater placement is very important. You’ll notice many other saunas don’t have heaters covering all areas of the walls, benches and some are totally missing on front and side walls. I consider this a design flaw and indication of a weaker, ineffective heating system. Infrared light travels in a direct straight line (similar to sunlight) and enters into the body only if you’re sitting in front/behind it. The most effective way to elevate core body temperature is to be totally surrounded by the heaters. This allows for maximum infrared exposure and supports the best therapeutic results.
Another important note on heater placement is many other brands have heaters that extend above the head – this is also a design flaw, in my opinion, and indicates weaker heaters. Given the fact infrared travels in a straight line, it’s important that it penetrates your core body – not directly on your head or the empty airspace above you.
7) All Clearlight saunas are equipped with Chromotherapy lighting and a Bluetooth sound system with Nakamichi speakers. This allows you to enjoy your choice of entertainment from any smart device, music, guided meditation, podcast, or Audible book. Other brands only offer the AUX module/cord or old school car CD/MP3/Stereo.
8) Clearlight saunas are manufactured with your choice of Okoume Mahogany or North American Basswood. All woods are FSC Certified and sustainably harvested – no particleboard or veneer are used.
9) Many sauna companies have slatted wood floors over live heaters – which in my opinion, is not ideal or sanitary. Over time, it’ll collect sweat, sloughed-off skin cells, dust, hair, dead insects, etc. Clearlight floors are solid wood with infrared heaters beneath so it’s hygienic and easy to keep clean.
10) The warranty on your sauna is very important – ultimately, it is the overall protection for your investment. All other saunas have a warranty in the range of 1-7 years with a lot of fine print around their electronics so lets be honest…if they felt it was the “best” on the market, they’d stand behind it for longer than a year or two. Clearlight has been around since the 90’s and has set the bar for integrity, craftsmanship and high quality sauna cabins. All saunas include a Lifetime Warranty for its components – not just the wood or heaters.
It’s no secret that I’ve owned several Clearlight sauna models over the years and 100% trust them in my homes and business. Don’t just take my word for it though, check it out online and take note which brands are not highly recommended by people you trust. There is a long list of experts, organizations, medical facilities and professional athletes that agree and trust them too.
Overall, my focus and goal is always centered around helping others make an informed decision about what sauna will best fit you and your family.
